4. Brunei - $76,740 GDP (PPP) per capita

Brunei is a tiny nation on the island of Borneo, in 2 distinct sections surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea. It's known for its beaches and biodiverse rainforest, much of it protected within reserves. With a per capita income (PPP) of $76,740, Brunei ranks as the fourth richest county in the world. The tiny state in southeast Asia has a total area of 2,226 sq mi and a population of 417,200 as of July 2015. The county's wealthy economy is supported by the petroleum sector. Brunei is the ninth-largest producer of liquified natural gas in the world as well as the third-largest oil producer in Southeast Asia. The government is working on diversifying the economy to rely less on petroleum revenue.

Mansa Moussa was a devout Muslim who built magnificent mosques throughout his empire in order to spread the influences of Islam. During his reign, Timbuktu became one of the major cultural centers of not only Africa but of the entire Islamic world.
